JUST IN: Iheanacho shines, sends Leicester to first FA Cup final since 1969

Kelechi Iheanacho shines again on Sunday as the Nigerian got the only goal with which The Foxes conquered Southampton 1-0 to book an FA Cup final appearance for the first time since 1969.

A tetchy match was settled by a strike that came in the 55th minute when Jamie Vardy rolled Jan Bednarek near the halfway and sprinted to the byline before cutting back to Iheanacho, whose initial effort was going wide but came off Jannik Vestergaard and Iheanacho did not pass up the second bite at the cherry, passing the ball past Fraser Forster.

And just like the first semifinal on Saturday when Chelsea beat Manchester City; only one goal was required to book a final appearance.

Opta reveals that “Each of the last four goals scored at Wembley in the FA Cup have been scored by African players – Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s brace in last season’s final, Hakim Ziyech yesterday [for Chelsea] and Kelechi Iheanacho today.”

Leicester City are going to face Chelsea in the finals to be played at Wembley.

There is expected to be 21,000 in attendance – including far more supporters – when the Foxes return to Wembley on May 15 to take on Chelsea looking to win their first-ever FA Cup.

Hopefully the showpiece will be more exciting than the drab semi-final.
